Current Variations in the Paradigm of Catholic Moral Theology
Variant title
Abstract
In recent decades, techno-scientific progress and the expansion of human knowledge and freedom have eroded the foundation on which Catholic morality was built for centuries, reducing its ability to shape human, social, and cultural life in a uniform and binding manner. After outlining the causes of this erosion, which are attributable to the scientific, biomedical, and anthropological revolutions, this contribution aims to present, drawing from the moral magisterium of Pope Francis, a new theological-moral framework capable of engaging with the profound transformations taking place in contemporary culture.
