Orbis Idearum invites researchers to submit papers for publication in a regular issue, that is, a issue not limited to a particular theme. Nevertheless, we remind potential authors that the history of ideas (HOI) is an academic specialty with its own object of study and its own methodology. The traditional work of the historian of ideas is the reconstruction of the path of an idea (typically, a word-and-concept), in a certain period of time, through different disciplines (philosophy, science, literature, art, etc.).
That is why we often say that HOI is an “inter-discipline.” This inter-disciplinary rule of thumb aside, we also welcome articles about an idea inside a single discipline or even a single doctrine, as far as the author makes an effort to underline its significance for other disciplines and doctrines.We also welcome book reviews, literature reviews, and articles on the wider reception of publications that are of particular interest for HOI.
